Bigfoot is one of the most enduring and popular legends of North America. Sightings of this “cryptid” occur mainly in the Pacific Northwest, but similar ape-like creature sightings have been reported across the continent.

History: The legend of Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, dates back at least as far as the 1800s, and may go back even further in history. Many Native American tribes have versions of a large, human-like giant creatures in their folklore, similar to Bigfoot. Many people claim to have seen Bigfoot, who is often described as a large, ape-like creature that stands upright like a human.
